Black Forest mirror

A fantastic hand carved Black Forest mirror. Originally from Germany, circa 1900. Richly decorated frame with branches, leaves and bunches of grapes.

Black Forest refers to a furniture style that originally comes from the Black Forest region in south west Germany. It is known for its craftsmanship and traditional designs, and is often characterised by rustic, hand carved wooden pieces with intricate details. Dark, rich woods such as oak are typical, and the designs often incorporate elements from nature, such as flower motifs, animals and forest themes.
