Bust of Vitellius

Plaster bust of Vitellius (Aulus Vitellius), Roman emperor in the year 69 AD during the turbulent "Year of the Four Emperors". Vitellius was known as obese and a bon vivant, which matches the full cheeks and double chin on this bust.

His reign lasted only a few months before he was defeated by Vespasian and met a violent end.

This statue dates from the late 20th century, 1980 to 1990.
