Giant ammonite fossil

A gigantic ammonite fossil on a custom black stand. About 150 to 200 million years old.

An ammonite is an extinct marine animal belonging to the class of cephalopods. Ammonites lived in the seas of the Palaeozoic and Mesozoic (about 400 to 66 million years ago). They had a striking spiral shell that has often been preserved as a fossil. Ammonites died out during the mass extinction at the end of the Cretaceous, at the same time as the dinosaurs.
