English chest of drawers in burr walnut veneer, 19th century.
A 19th-century English chest of drawers, finished in rich burr walnut veneer. The chest has a classic, symmetrical design with three small drawers at the top and three wide drawers below.
The drawer fronts are finished in beautiful mirrored burr walnut veneer. The drawers are framed by black and gilded mouldings and feature brass handles with elegantly shaped back plates.
On the rear is a metal plate bearing the name ‘Waring & Gillow (Paris) Ltd.’, listing branches in Paris, Madrid and Brussels. Waring & Gillow was a renowned British furniture manufacturer and interior designer, formed from the merger of two leading English furniture firms. The chest of drawers is also marked on one of the drawers.
The piece is in very good condition.
