A large, framed historical map of Paris, based on the original engraving from 1618 by the Dutch cartographer Claes Jansz. Visscher (1586–1652).
The detailed bird’s-eye view map depicts Paris at the beginning of the 17th century, showing the River Seine, bridges, churches, streets and the surrounding countryside. The map is richly decorated with royal coats of arms, figures representing various social classes and a comprehensive key identifying important buildings and locations.
Framed in a wooden frame with a warm, natural finish. Mid-20th century.
