Dutch Baroque columned cabinet, probably dating from the late 17th or early 18th century, circa 1700.
The cabinet has a richly decorated front featuring contrasting woods (including ebony), geometric panels and black mouldings. The four black columns with beautifully carved Ionic capitals, the monumental cornice and the large ball-and-claw feet give the piece its characteristic appearance.
The interior offers ample storage space with several wooden shelves. The cabinet has a traditional construction featuring wide, antique back panels, iron locks and various authentic details. The piece shows signs of wear and restorations consistent with its age. One ball-and-claw foot is thought to be original, whilst the others were replaced at a later date.
A particularly decorative and architecturally designed piece of furniture, characteristic of the Dutch Baroque style.
