A decorative bamboo coat rack from the late 19th century, probably made around 1890.
The tall, open structure consists of bamboo poles with various curved hooks for coats and hats. In the centre is a square mirror, positioned diagonally between the crossed bamboo poles.
The lower section features an open rack for umbrellas and walking sticks, with a drip tray beneath it. The bamboo has a dark, reddish-brown finish with visible signs of age.
A characteristic example of the influence of Japonism on European furniture design at the end of the 19th century.
